I cast off my sins
When you left
Stripped your skin from mine
Removed your hands from mine

I was that innocent child
Of candid dreams
Still free of rebellion

You are gone now
And I slash at the emptiness
With contemptuous knife

Blood stains the flowers
In my garden of love
The jasmine turns crimson
Roses and carnations
Perish on my very palms
The rivers of tears run dry
Unable to revive you

There is no solace
For the solitary soul
Within me
Unseen to all

That night I cast off my sins
A heart trembles in disquiet
Words once forbidden cry out
To walls of silence

The hours and minutes
Crumble to a hush.
