For those who caught Furness' Four 4 The Floor EP, and are intimate with his booking, this accomplishment is additional evidence of how practically
of a full-fledged purveyor of artful grooves and in trouble-touch rhythms Furness is. Title track exsanguinous Fishing utilises string keys as the start of the track and field and marries the moody, prolonged synths with a dubby bassline and nimble hit snares. Acropolis is tougher, centering distorted pads against intermittent soft chords, soft-footed thundery grabs and a vivid, elephantine bassline. Red808 is a no-nonsense roller, with its pat snare and hi-hat/hand-clap tandem operative superbly against the climbing synths. Blackstar adopts a suchlike framewashing to Acropolis, wrapping up the EP in style with its replaceablely lo-fi, distorted percussion hot against rapturous chords photogenic the track into superimposed sonic terrain.
