Jockey Ian Popham is celebrating what he's called 'the best day of his career' after landing the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham on the 12-1 shot Annacotty.
The seven year old, having his first run for trainer Alan King won a thrilling renewal by half a length with Sound Investment a close up third.
Popham has had to over come a series of long term injuries in a career that only saw him ride his first 2015 winner a month ago. He kept the ride on Annacotty as the insistence of the owner when he changed trainers this summer.
Ian Popham spoke afterwards with Mike Vince.
