The EA SPORTS Maui Invitational continued its "Surfboards Across America" program last night in Fayetteville, AR when "Maui Magic" surfed into Bud Walton Arena as the Arkansas Razorbacks upset #2 Florida 80-69. After handing Florida its first conference loss of the season, and first loss since Dec., Arkansas is now 14-1 at home this season (14-8 overall, 5-4 Southeastern Conference) and riding a big wave of momentum heading into its next contest vs. Vanderbilt. The Razorbacks are sure to make an impact in the 2013 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational this November!
During the first half, Big Red, Arkansas' mascot, rode the custom-made, eight-foot surfboard to center court with the cheerleaders before presenting it to Senior Associate Athletic Director, Jon Fagg.
The presentation was previewed by Tournament Chairman Dave Odom on local radio programs "Miked Up with Mike Anderson" and "Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly." The surfboard presentation was also broadcast during the game on ESPN with commentators, Brad Nessler and Jimmy Dykes, talking about the 2013 Tournament.
