DUANE EUBANKS (tp)
As one of the most sought after trumpeters of his generation, Mr. Eubanks' contribution is a clear tone, lyricism and abstraction laced with deep emotions. While Duane's playing has been compared to Miles Davis, Lee Morgan and Clifford Brown his appearance with Rocket shows that the sky is the limit and and his creativity knows no bounds.
RASHAAN CARTER (b)
Rocket's rhythms are singular creations that are kept alive by a section that ushers in a new generation of groove. Mr. Carters bass has been heard with a variety of historic drummers, reaching from Jimmy Cobb to Joe Chambers to Cindy Blackman, to Eric McPherson. On this occasion he can be heard in a new context, sporting the electric bass and making his presence felt with a wide brush: dark textures, spurts of growth and an intense pump are expected.
EMANUEL RUFFLER (kb)
This Pianist/Composer charts the course for the Rocket, letting her fly on her own while conducting, constructing and coordinating the travels. Ruffler's music has a uniqueness the NYTimes dubbed "a sign of the state of jazz". Compositions that are fully developed are his trademark, rhythms get combined with melodies, tenor and countermelodies may get swapped out - or entirely inverted. The results are crystal clear.
JAZ SAWYER (dr)
An unholy alliance has formed between the west coast, bay area and the big apple, new york city. Exemplified by famed percussionist Jaz Sawyer, who stirs up things in the DrumKit department. Boomboom Room, Murky Bell Flock and Rock Steady are names of some the beats mister sawyer let's loose on this production.
