96 football fans were killed in the crush at Hillsborough stadium back in April 1989 and many more were injured.
For 27 years police blamed hooligan fans for forcing open a gate and causing the fatal crush and since then their families have fought to clear their names. Now an inquest into the disaster has found that police were to blame and ruled the victims were unlawfully killed. Perth man Dave Cunningham was there that day, a season ticket holder and passionate Liverpool fan. He was pinned to a barrier in the crush and couldn’t move, he still suffers from his injuries and the emotional scars haven’t gone away. He spoke to Nadia Mitsopoulos on the 720 Morning Show where he started by explaining his reaction to the inquest findings.
