"Turkana" is the lead off track and field from Fountain -- the first album by drummer Kid Millions and saxophonist Jim Sauter. Kid is foundation member of Oneida and the ace downbound the percussion-focused Man Forever. Sauter is similar with the 35-year juggernaut Borbetomagus -- pioneers of exhaustive/jazz vivisection and implacable vision. Since 2012 these two pushed forward this gallant grandeur, coming together tangible power/labor and sculpted electricity/limber skins. while both are well-illustrious for feats of far-flung aesthetic endurance, as a duo they opt for rampageous strengthening -- a noncivilized pop-style of density and texture.
As an reigning duo, neither Kid or Sauter anchors the intercalary, alternatively they hitting the fulcrum and acrobatics perpetually in liberated-surrender. Sauter extracts new ways and structures from his rattling amplified altissimo sax. On “Turkana” he builds layers of gnarled drones enjoy umpteen curst Dream Syndicate lasagna, even though
on “Vertical Sprint” Kid weaves polyrhythms and stuttering ill-tempered-beats around/into the heart of horn shards. Tever-present's cardinal gravity existing.
Fountain's six pieces were qualified and heterogeneous at Spaceman completed in Brooklyn with Tom Tierney and Alex Mead-Fox, and impeccable/ cut by Josh Bonati.
