About:

Ford Foster is a producer and DJ based in Leeds, UK. Growing up in the South Coast of England and getting into early hip hop and electro as a child, he started going raving in his teenage years at the turn of the 90s. He bought decks in 1995 and spent the rest of the decade buying and spinning obsessively, with a main interest in American house and techno. At this time he was living in Salford and was a regular punter at Bugged Out! during its Sankeys days.

Throughout the 2000s he found himself closely involved in hip hop, visual art, punk and experimental music. Despite having made music in various forms in various guises for years, for whatever reason he had never completed any house or techno tracks. This was to change drastically, as towards the end of 2012 Ford Foster’s first music emerged, initially on net label Western Panorama and swiftly followed by a release on Stephen Bishop’s prestigious Opal Tapes. DJ bookings, remix work and further releases for labels like Bad Mums and Fragil White were to come, with growing press attention and support from DJs.

In 2014 Ford Foster had releases on Opal Tapes, Unknown To The Unknown and Just Left White, and remixed Gavin Herlihy and Dualit for Leftroom and Fifth Wall respectively. He makes a lot of tunes and is gradually seeping them all out to different record labels across the house and techno spectrum, with new releases getting lined up all the time. FF makes raw jackin’ tracks combining elements of Chicago house, old hardcore, various strands of techno and other weirdness filtered through an old punk/b-boy brain. His tracks have been supported by the likes of DJ Deeon, Rolf Mulder, Seth Troxler, Nez, Warlock, Laurent Garnier, Tony Thorpe, Matt Tolfrey, Logos, Kaptain Cadillac, Green Velvet, Todd Edwards, Dusky, Sinden, Tensnake, George Lanham and many more. His DJ sets are a high-energy mixture of Chicago house, tracky techno, acid, B’more and other wall-banging gear.

2015 begins with 'REACH A BETTER FEELING' by Flores Del Vicio (a collaboration with William Watts on Opal Tapes), Dott Farm - a forthcoming project with Leftroom's Matt Tolfrey, and FF's continuing DJ residency at the SECT night at Wharf Chambers in Leeds, with more stuff getting lined up all the time...
