Episode 79 of Cut Me Some Slack featured some great music from The Dead Weather, Pixies, Joy Division, The Seahorses, and The Power Station. The theme was, 'artists who have been in one popular band, but have then went on to have success with another band'. A bit of a mouthful, but some good tunes.
First, we kick off with a look at Jack White's multi-tasking approach to music (he plays drums and lead vox on this track) and we also discover why "Where is My Mind" is the best song "EVER" about scuba diving.
In the second part of the show, we go back to 1979 (not literally...of course) and take a look at Joy Division's brilliant song 'Transmission', mention the Ian Curtis movie, and wonder why Summer and Hook now hate each other (Google it...)
The Seahorses, or really it was a vehicle for ex-Stone Roses guitarist John Squire to do more of his guitar thing. Tony Visconti, Shane Meadows and how the band was put together accompany a rather good song.
We close the show with a song from The Power Station...Tony Thompson's drumming!
