Some South African business success stories are so big and so modestly profiled that they pass us by. The Maitland Group is one of these. Established 40 years ago as the Luxembourg offshoot of SA legal firm Webber Wentzel, the company has massively outgrown its former parent through expanding into new fields. It is now one of the world's leading players in managing the tax and investment affairs of the super rich. Through 15 offices worldwide and 1 200 employees it administers a staggering $280bn in clients' assets. CEO Steve Georgala, who has been with the firm for three decades and took over captaincy when founder Eric Pfaff passed away in 2009, tells the Maitland story to Alec Hogg of Biznews.com.
