Author Howard Means has written an incredible book describing the lead into the tragedy at Kent State, the shooting itself, and the surreal aftermath. There was a law-and-order governor in a tight race for the Senate, the ill-trained and improperly equipped National Guard led by zealous commanders, and a small number of protesters surrounded by many curious onlookers. Shots were fired and four people lay dead and nine wounded. Some were three football fields away. You'll want to listen to this conversation.
