Mayor Mirisch Interview with Nicole Kian Sadighi He has been compared to Jimmy Stewart’s character in the iconic movie “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” and just like Mr. Smith, Mayor John Mirisch of the City of Beverly Hills has been defending the best interests of the city with the same gumption and passion for issues that are very close to his heart. Mayor Mirisch is a fourth generation Beverly Hills resident, where he grew up and graduated from Beverly Hills High School. After college Council member Mirisch lived abroad in Europe mainly in Sweden where he worked in distribution and marketing. This will be his second term as Mayor of Beverly Hills. Mayor Mirisch joined Nicole Kian Sadighi at Javanan Radio, along with Mr. Farshid Joe Shooshani, Chair Planning Commission of the Community Development for the City of Beverly Hills to discuss an ongoing controversial property development in Beverly Hills. The project named “The Hilton Initiative” which is being commissioned by the owner of the Beverly Hilton and Beverly Waldorf Astoria is trying to build one of the tallest buildings ever to be built in the garden city of Beverly Hills, all the while trying to avoid city standard reviews with the planning commission and the city council. The initiative will be on the November ballot as “Measure HH”. Mayor Mirisch has been leading march against the development and he and Mr. Shooshani have been staunch critics of such a scheme without first going through the usual scrutiny of the planning commission’s rules and regulations, rules by which everyone has to abide by, no matter if they would be adding a new bathroom to a home or wishing to build a condominium.
