If you’ve listened to the LAMBcast for any length of time, you’ve probably thought a time or two that your humble host Dylan hasn’t seen anything! Well, I’m here to tell you that that’s kind of by design – being the guy that picks the topics, I often use the show to fill my own gaps, particularly when it comes to these franchise look-backs. What better way to force myself (so to speak) into catching up with films missed over the course of my life than to have them be homework for the show?
To that end, when Todd pitched a Halloween-timed (close enough) theme by discussing some of the Universal Monsters series (none of which I’d seen before…again), I jumped at the chance. We went back-and-forth about which films to focus on – there are dozens in all that cover multiple decades – and settled on the following:
* The Phantom of the Opera * Dracula * Frankenstein * The Mummy * The Invisible Man * The Bride of Frankenstein * The Wolfman * Creature From the Black Lagoon
Also in on the discussion were Pat, Jay, and Mette. Due to the volume of films covered, it’s a lengthier-than-normal show, so we skipped out on Rants and Raves, as well as the game, though they’ll return next episode.
