It seems notification of my previous upload (Karimukil kattile song) has not reached anybody. Only two listeners !! Hope YL has solved the notification issue by now.

This is a non-film devotional song on Lord Guruvayurappan, composed by Jaya, (after the death of his twin brother Vijaya) and sung by KJY, both disciples of Chembai.

The meaning of the starting lines is given below:

The one who offered his conch (Panchajanyam is the name of Lord’s conch)
to Chembai, when he lost his voice,
On your Ekadasi day morning
at Guruvayur it is always an ocean of music,
A milky ocean of music…

For those who are interested to know who Chembai was and what is meant by “he lost his voice”, I am adding a small write up here:

Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar (1 September 1896 – 16 October 1974) was a Carnatic music singer from Kerala, known by his village name Chembai. Chembai was noted for his powerful voice and majestic style of singing. His first public performance was in 1904, when he was nine. A recipient of several titles and honours, he had many students, including K. J. Yesudas and many noted musicians like T. V. Gopalakrishnan, P. Leela, the Jaya-Vijaya twins and others.

Chembai was an ardent devotee of Lord Sree Guruvayurappan (Also known as Vishnu and Krishna). From the age of 20, he never missed Lord Guruvayurappan's darshan every Ekadasi day. In 1931, on the Ekadasi day, a musical concert was organised at Calicut under the auspices of Zamurin Rajah. When he entered for appearance on the platform he found that he could not utter a single word. The performance was postponed, he rushed to Guruvayur and on that Ekadasi day he poured his heart before Lord Guruvayurappan. A non-descript Namboodiri whom he met there administered some medicine. He regained his voice immediately and gave the performance in Calicut out of schedule. That day he found a new voice and vigor and his performance was rated high by one and all.
