"Who Would Have Thought"
See the little Boy, who's just been born.
Look into His cradle and watch His slumbering form.
It's so hard to imagine Him all grown up and gone,
but Heaven's Child cannot stay here very long.
When the Baby Jesus took His first earthly breath,
His last one seemed so far away that no-one dreamed
His death was just around the corner, thirty years, plus three.
Then His cradle cry of hunger would be a cry of pain and agony.
Who would have thought that the Baby had come to die?
Who would have dreamed God would sacrifice His Son?
Who would have seen in the manger the cross of Calvary?
When Jesus came, He came for you and me.
He grew in strength and wisdom, in favor with God and man.
He learned a trade in a carpenter's shop,
He worked hard with His hands.
And when His time was ready,
He laid His hammer down,
and went out to use those hands to heal, and turn men's lives around.
Who would have thought that those hands would be nailscarred?
Who could have seen His head all covered with thorns?
Who ever dreamed that those arms would be stretched to a tree?
Jesus did, and He did it all for me.
His enemies picked up the hammer, and two crossbeams made of wood;
On the Hill of the Skull they drove in spikes as only man could.
They raised Him high above them and left Him there to die,
But they didn't know it was the Son of God that they had crucified!
Who would have thought that the crucified would rise again?
Who could have seen Him coming back from the dead?
Whoever thought that this Babe, this Babe of Bethlehem
would reign as King of Kings?
He is the King of Kings! He is the Lord of Lords! Christ the Lamb, for sinners slain;
Born to die and rise again; forever more to reign! Amazing Love!
How can it be? That Thou, my God should be born, and live and die for me?
He came for me!
