Joshua has been writing and recording songs, and indeed has been in bands and performing, since he was 17 years old. Since then he has recorded at least one album a year - last year he recorded four.
Joshua grew up listening to his daddy's record collection, so his influences include Jerry Lee Lewis, The Rat Pack, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and Steve Earle.
Sir Joshua's music can best be described as rock n' roll with a folk/blues edge. However his repertoire also includes everything from country music to big orchestral ballads, arranged by his best friend Richard K Montgomery.
Right now Joshua is recording his long anticipated acoustic album "Almost Alone" - part of this year's trilogy which also includes "Mule To Rise" and his album of 'chick songs' "Ladies, Please!". He is also in the middle of a hectic tour schedule, including several festival appearances.
Joshua regularly appears on local radio station HCR104fm on their Spotlight show, performing live, and also PCRFM on their Doc Mason and Most Wanted shows.
He has made several records for charity, including an EP for mental health charity Rethink.
The highlights of his career thus far have been performing at KingsStock music festival last year, after recovering from liver failure, and three years sober; and performing at Strawberry Fair this year for the first time. In terms of pure joy, however, the prison shows top even this. He calls them his 'jailhouse flock' and Joshua will be putting on a concert for the inmates at Thorn Cross Prison, Warrington in August.
Songs from his albums "Ripping Yarns" and "I'm Sure I'm Not Mine!" have received significant radio airplay in the UK. However his latest single "5am", released on Valentine's Day this year, has done especially well - being played on three internet radio stations broadcasting out of America and several radio stations in the UK. "Welfare Blues" has also gained recent American airplay.
"5am" was recently reviewed by moremore sound who said it was "an original and distinctive musical accomplishment".
"Alimony Street" was recently reviewed by Middle Tennessee Music who said it was "a simplistic balladesque record infused with Sir Joshua Francis’ powerful vocals".
