As the Church celebrates Pentecost Sunday this morning, in developing a theme and focus for this sermon, the Lord led me to the lyrics of one of the hymns we like to sing, “Spirit of the Living God Fall fresh on me. Spirit of the Living God Fall fresh on me. Break me, melt me, mold me, fill me, Spirit of the Living God, Fall fresh on me.” Not matter the genre of Christian music, Anthem, Spiritual, Gospel, Contemporary or Rap there is something which has inspired the composer to write particular lyrics.
From Isaac Watts to Charles Wesley, to Fannie J. Crosby to Bill Gaither, to Moses Hogan or Shirley Caesar, to James Cleveland, Andre Crouch, Kirk Franklin, just to name a few. They were inspired by some thought or experience. So we wonder what was the experience that inspired Daniel Iverson to write Spirit of The Living God Fall fresh On Me?
(1 Corinthians 12: 1 – 11)
