Indigenous peoples are the custodians of distinct culture, language, spiritual practices, indigenous knowledge and biological diversity in Nepal. Indigenous Media Foundation believes in the power of media and communication to help indigenous peoples to uphold human rights, safeguard their most unique practices, transfer their indigenous knowledge and skills to younger generation, promote cultural and lingual diversity and peaceful existence, as well as protect biological diversity and achieve ecological sustainability. Registered under the Company Act of Nepal as a not for profit organization on 11, April, 2011. Indigenous Media Foundation was founded by a group of indigenous journalists in Nepal with the common dream to support Nepalese indigenous peoples through best possible media and communication, including newspaper (publications) radio, TV, print, online, social media and interpersonal communication to engage them in the dialogue, debate, discussion, facilitate the exchange of information and ideas as well as transform their lives by supporting them in understanding of their rights.

Indigenous voice is the radio program as well as news site of the Foundation (www.indigenousvoice.com)

Envisions a society where multicultural, multiethnic, multi-religious diversities prosper equally, are valued, embraced and celebrated with dignity.

Believes in the power of media and communication, help Indigenous Peoples to safeguard and transfer their indigenous knowledge, skills, wisdom, language, culture, and understand their rights, providing a forum to research, interact, document and disseminate information on indigenous peoples’ culture, language, rituals, knowledge and wisdom through media.

Using media and communication, it aims to,
- Inform, connect and empower indigenous peoples through media.
- Enable dialogue and debate between indigenous peoples and those in power and policy making level through media.
- Enhance communication to maintain social cohesion and harmony.
- Provide access to appropriate information.
- Protect, promote and defend the human rights and fundamental freedoms in Nepal through Media campaign.
- Produce, document and disseminate information widely about the contemporary situations of indigenous peoples in Nepal through print, audio, video (radio & TV), online media and other media.
- To be one stop centre for indigenous peoples’ issues (library) to promote and enhance the study of and research in indigenous peoples in Nepal.
