Haal Kaisa Hai Janab Ka - Suja and Hemanth29 Sept. 2015 Upload - Haal Kaisa Hai Janab Ka - Duet cover by Suja and Hemanth - Greetings friends :-)...! My dear wife and I covered this lovely duet recently of our legendary real-life-couple Kishore da and Madhubala ji (Asha ji playback) :-)... We had covered this for the September theme of our HTPT forum on FB.
Suja has sung the inimitable Asha ji portions quite beautifully, and she was also of immeasurable help in the editing, mixing, and mastering technical aspects as usual. We have both given our best, and hope you will find our earnest efforts enjoyable.

Ya Dilki Suno Duniya Waalo - a Hemant Kumar songOne of Hemant Kumar's top melodious song this is. A very unique song in terms of its orchestration where you will hear prominent bass guitar, a few string instruments but no tabla dholak or drums. Also I felt that the bass guitarist had eye to eye contact with Hemantda while recording this song...allowing Hemantda to extend notes where he enjoyed the most and deemed necessary. This karaoke is also good but has a prominent drum sound in place of bass guitar. I wished I could also extend notes like him but naturally following the perfectly timed beat it would have sounded unnatural so I just followed the beat and sang my heart out. Some songs need that sleep deprived voice...but only the voice, not the presence of mind and I was lucky to have that on that particular day when I recorded my vocals on this track.
Why I adore this song is because of the way Hemantda used to go about joining two words in his typical Bangla style. Many singers join two or more words to give it a continuous flow but no one could do like Hemantda...some thing very folkish, very pleasant and enjoyable. Here in Ya Mujhko~Abhi Chup Rehne Do he joined Mujhko and Abhi with a very pleasing twist that I remembered since long and the main reason for my liking this song and ultimately covering it. Hope friends will enjoy this song in my cover.
Original Singer/Composer: Hemant Kumar

Humein Aur Jeene Ki Chahat - a Kishore Kumar songAnother of my favorite song by Kishore Kumar hope friends will enjoy in my cover.

Woh Subha Kabhi To Aayegi-a Mukesh songThis is an old recording when I was learning to arrange and record my own tracks. I still would love to arrange tracks but the major hindrance is the lack of a tabla player who could play beats that I could record and use in a track. I have quite a fair sized bank of Tabla/Dholuk loops but their use satisfied me in only a few songs. Those loops lack the bols that are needed in our songs. Creating a track is too time consuming and also because access to most old and new tracks is so easy now a days, I began to loose interest. But I love to play keyboards and occasionally use them to fix or add something to the existing tracks.
This song has lyrics from the times in Sub-continent when change was desired on a large scale within the society and it's governance. A big overhaul was needed in the justice system. Many progressive writers were born and raised during this time, who with their work tried to educate the masses for their rights. By how much things changed and by how much happier the people of its state are is a different story.
The female voice you will hear in this song is also sung by me. I recorded my vocals through a preset for female voice on my keyboard synthesizer but the characteristic voice is of a Western girl so I tried to keep her a bit subdued:). I hope you will enjoy this oldie in my voice.
Original Singer: Mukesh
Music Director: Khaiyyam
Lyricist: Sahir Ludhiyanvi
Film: Phir Subha Hogi (1958)
Jhoomti Chali Hawa - a Mukesh songDo not know much about this song other than guessing by the name of the film. Typical oldies style melody. I liked it for its lyrics and melody. Listening to original, I always missed the ending part. I don't know if it was recorded completely...meaning repeating Yaad Aagaya Koi 3 times. I was happy this MG track had the provision to sing it all where I tried my best as it gets quite into high pitch. Had this song been created in the 40's I am sure it would have been covered by the stalwart K.L.Saigal but Mukesh did full justice to it too. Quite a blend of lows and highs in it. I hope oldies lovers will enjoy this song but newer generation will too.
Original Singer: Mukesh
Music Director: S. N. Tripathi
Lyricist: Shailendra
Film: Sangeet Samrat Tansen (1962)
Phir Tumhari Yaad Aayi-Solo-a Rafi/Manna Dey/Sadat Khan songTwo years ago Hemant Kumar Tholappa (from Muziboo days) introduced me this song. I liked it very much but I was not sure if I could sing it too but we both sang and recorded a cover which Hemant shared on his profile. While recording my parts I sang the entire song too. Originally this song was sung by three singers, Rafi, Manna Dey and Sadat Khan. Quite an intriguing song with quite different alaaps but they all come from how Qawwali's are sung in a typical style. Here I am presenting my cover in a solo version and took opportunity to add some subtle harmonium and hand claps to this MG track. Hope Hemant joins this site and reconnect and I hope friends enjoy this song in my cover.
Original Singers: Mohammad Rafi/Manna Dey/Sadat Khan

Lyricist: Jaan Nisar Akhtar

Tere Mandir Ka Hoon Deepak Jal Raha-Pankaj MullickI had heard only a few songs of Pankaj Mullick and I liked them all but when Hemant Tholappa and Hema Shamal introduced this song about two years ago I instantly liked it and sang it. A few Hindi words that I was unsure of got corrected after I listening to their covers but still a word "Baanchta" I was not sure of I have used exactly as it appeared in MG clip. I believe it means Baant'ta...give away, shared. Quite an oldie from around late 50's or early 60's.
One more thing got cleared today was Pankaj Ji's last name, which in Pakistan is spelled as Malik and I used to wonder why until I found a signed portrait of the Guru himself where I could read a clear Mullick.
Hope you all enjoy this non-filmi Bhajjan type song in my voice that I sang along playing harmonium. Lyrics are very good too but I have no idea who's?
Music Director/Singer: Pankaj Mullick
