This William S. Paley Television Festival seminar honors iThe Daily Show with Jon Stewarti. Paley Center president Robert M. Batscha moderates the panel discussion, which features head writer Ben Karlin; writercorrespondent Stephen Colbert; executive producerco-creator Madeleine Smithberg; and anchorco-executive producer Jon Stewart.pStewart introduces a highlight reel of the shows clips from 1999 through 2001 before the discussion begins. Later on, correspondent Steve Carell joins the panel, and Stewart ribs him for tardiness, suggesting he has become arrogant since landing a role on a high-profile sitcom. Batscha asks Carell to comment on a clip in which Carell interviewed presidential candidate Senator John McCain, and Carell reminisces about McCains gameness to participate. When Batscha opens the seminar to questions from the audience, one man asks if, in the aftermath of 911, the staff has been encouraged to present a different view of President George W. Bush.
