How many other artists are there that can lay claim to as much of a legacy in dance culture as Chicago originator DJ Pierre? When the trio of Pierre, Spanky and Herb J pulled together in 1987 to produce 'Acid Tracks', it was the first ever record to feature that unforgettable squiggly sound that emanates from a Roland 303. It was also one of the seminal pieces of music that kicked off the eternally influential acid house movement across the world.
Now over 20 years on from that fateful record, we're pleased to report that Pierre has been drafted in to sprinkle his magic over electronic soul outfit's Yo Yo Honey's 'Groove On' as the cut approaches its second decade in existence. Serving up a trademark acid laced version of - without losing the soul of the original - 'Groove On', Pierre's Wildpitch mix accompanies the the twentieth anniversary remastered reissue of the band's classic 1992 album 'Voodoo Soul' alongside a number of other new and unreleased mixes.
Set to arrive January 7th via Black Sugar Music, you can stream DJ Pierre's 'Groove On' mix in full now although be warned it's NSFW as you'll need plenty of space to dance around...
