Season 7, Episode 8 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I start things off by going over the key injuries the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered during their Friday night preseason win over the New Orleans Saints.
Will defensive end Cameron Heyward and tackle Marcus Gilbert be ready for the Monday night regular season opener against the Washington Redskins? We discuss that in addition to talking about the first wave of roster cuts that were made on Sunday that included rookie tackle Jerald Hawkins being placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured list.
David and I move on to recap the Steelers win over the Saints and that includes us discussing the play of several players in that contest. Will wide receiver Eli Rogers see significant playing time on offense early in the season like David predicted a few weeks ago? It certainly is possible based on what we’ve seen during the team’s first three preseason games. We revisit that topic.
What kind of roster juggling is ahead for the Steelers? David and I lay out quite a few scenarios and that includes us discussing cornerback Senquez Golson and quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, both of whom are currently dealing with injuries.
Several cuts around the league have David and I wondering if the Steelers will have any interest in a few of the players recently released and this includes defensive back Blidi Wreh-Wilson and outside linebacker Paul Kruger. Additionally, David and I discuss the Monday morning report that links suspended free agent running back Karlos Williams to the Steelers.
We end this podcast episode by discussing San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his decision to sit out the National Anthem over the weekend.
As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.
