On today’s Football Weekly - history.
Yes, the 5,000-1 Foxes have done it, clinching the Premier League title just a year after scraping away from relegation and appointing managerial buffoon Claudio Ranieri after the team indulged in a wild summer in Thailand. How did they do it? AC Jimbo, Paolo Bandini, Philippe Auclair, John Ashdown and Jonny-on-the-spot Iain Macintosh scratch their collective heads and conclude it’s because it’s The Best League in The World, Jeff. And because Tottenham utterly lost it at Stamford Bridge, of course.
With the title in the bag, the podders look back on the rest of the weekend’s action, including Newcastle’s fine win at home to Crystal Palace and Norwich’s defeat at home to a mutinous(ish) Arsenal.
Finally, we wonder whether it’ll be a Pep-tastic Champions League final as Manchester City head to Real Madrid all square in the second leg of their semi-final and Bayern look to overturn a 1-0 deficit to Atlético.
We’ll be recording Thursday’s show after the final whistle in the Liverpool-Villarreal Europa League semi-final, so like this podcast, it’ll be a little later than normal - but it’s all for you, dear listener, you lucky things.
By the way, just 100 tickets left for our Palladium show at the start of June, looking back on this amazing Premier League season and previewing Euro 2016!
