USA TODAY Sports' Ted Berg and Gabe Lacques examine the top story lines of the second half of the season.
The Chicago Cubs were the team of destiny when the regular season began, but have recently fallen on hard times. With the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates in their rear-view mirror, the Cubs may opt to add another arm as the trade deadline approaches. And now it's the San Francisco Giants, not the Cubs, who are the best team in baseball to begin the second half.

The Walkoff also talks to Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter and Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen.
