The brilliance of a composer reflects in works where emotions of sorrow are conveyed without the need of melodrama in the tune. The genius of a composer in the same situation sparkles in a further step -where the background score is actually that of peppy melody while the stanzas carry the emotive depth. The soulful, evergreen song (covered herewith) outlives its era and brings its soul along with the time it traverses. A genius stroke by Maestro Dr.Ilayaraja from the mid-80s with lyrics by Kavignar Vairamuthu drenches us in melody while posing a slanderous rebuke at a society which prevailed back then. Originally rendered by SPB and Vani Jayaram as a duet, the thought-provoking lyrics allow a solo presentation. Hope you all enjoy the melody of raag Yaman alongside the sorrowful depth conveyed in the words. I had sung and presented this with a lesser quality track(made by copy-pasting original parts to a sped-up sharper scale) in Muziboo. Thereafter, I came across a totally recreated hi-qual track at the correct speed and scale and re-recorded afresh. One of my all time favorite songs, was an absolutely satisfying experience redoing it!
The situation for this song has a single mother(abused and driven by her alcoholic husband) with a young kid who is helped by a friend of her husband in good intent while the neighbors float rumors of illicit relationship between them...
