++++ Title: "Luke 5 - Restoring the Depths (A Picture of Grace)"
++++ Speaker: Steve Wilber, age 49
++++ Date: 05-22-1986, Thursday
++++ Venue: Pinecrest Memorial Day Convention: It's the first meeting of the convention, and the crowd is small tonight. Joan Forde leads worship at the end.

++++ Remarks:
--- 14 min - Steve was once a Wesleyan Armenianist. Now he sees God as an agressive lover!! --- Some preachers would like to abolish deathbed conversions, if they only could.
--- At the 45 minute point, Steve will quote the Lord, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you."

--- 19 min - Ezekiel chapter 1 - Steve numbers himself among the gathering of captives, as he didn't actually WANT to be the one preaching this night, but he isn't unhappy about it.

--- 27 - Testimony of his mother's healing. Over the ensuing decade she was graced with a wonderful healing ministry of her own.

--- 31 - "I won't tell you about..." additional testimonies of healing.

--- 32 - A different kind of captivity. Differing motives for following Jesus. In the scriptures we see a deteriorating motive: "...not because ye saw the miracles, but because he did eat of the loaves and were filled".

--- 35 - "Vox populi (voice of the majority) does NOT equal vox Dei (voice of God)."

--- 35 - J.W. Follette's insight: There is a group of people pressing in toward Jesus because their motive was to hear the word of God.

--- 38 - Gennesaret was a land of walled cities. The people had lived for centuries with a walled mindset.

--- 41- The first way that Jesus touches us ...is with His eye.

--- 48 - Peter's boat represents his life. Jesus steps into his boat. Jesus wants to come into your life and use it as a medium to teach the people. -But nothing is coerced. He didn't COMMANDEER Peter's boat.

--- 50 - The most perfect expression of humanism: "We have toiled all night and have taken nothing."

--- 51 - Jesus will restore your personal depths. Your Lake Gennesaret will no longer be devoid of love. It had been fished out and empty. Jesus can renovate and re-populate the depths.

--- 56 - If you want to strike the devil right on the nose, release some FORGIVENESS into this world.

--- 59 - Jesus is the only one who NEVER has any ulterior motives when using the gifts of the Spirit. Who can use the gifts like God Himself?

--- 61 - When Peter saw Jesus manifest His deity, he saw sin in himself where he had never seen it before. Depart from me, I'm full of sin.

--- 62 - Tom Worth asks Joan Forde to lead in song.
- - - - "Praise Jesus, the Precious Lamb of God"

- - - - "Unto Him that loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever amen..."

- - - - "All Hail King Jesus, All Hail Emmanuel"

--- 79 - Tom asks a brother to pray and close the meeting.

--- 81 - Someone left the tape running, and people are conversing for a couple of minutes at the end.
