David Cameron signed off after six years as prime minister. He leaves the post after one of the most tumultuous periods in British politics since the second world war. As Westminster, begins to process what has happened, we hear from MPs such as Chris Grayling, Alok Sharma and Maria Miller who have been long-term supporters of new prime minister Theresa May. We also hear from prominent Brexiter Kwasi Kwarteng who is backing the new prime minister to reunite the Conservatives after the Brexit campaign.
Joining Anushka Asthana in our Westminster office this week are the Guardian’s joint political editor Heather Stewart, Whitehall editor Rajeev Syal and the Observer’s political editor Toby Helm.
Also this week: as Labour head towards another bruising leadership contest, less than a year after Jeremy Corbyn took charge, we hear from both of the challengers: Owen Smith and Angela Eagle.
And from James Schneider, one of the founding members of the pro-Corbyn pressure group Momentum.
