A native of Southern California, homegrown in the San Fernando Valley suburbs, L-F-8 (pronounced Elevate) grew up influenced by the diversity unique to the Los Angeles area.

Having gone to the same high school as Ice Cube (Taft) and graduated from USC, L-F-8 (which stands for Lemon Flavor) got his upbringing all things Southern Cal. It was at USC's campus radio station that the Mad Flavor Factory was first aired in 1998.

In 2001, he notched that diversity up another level, moving to the New York area to live, getting a taste of some real east coast flavor in places like Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn, Ozone Park Queens, Lynbrook Long Island, 125th St. on the west side of Harlem, Park Ave. in midtown Manhattan, and the Jersey Shore. It didn’t just stay there, though, as within that decade, L-F-8 also made frequent visits to Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston, and even the Dirty South. L-F-8 has been to 49 states, even calling Nashville and Portland Oregon home for a short time, before coming back to California in 2012 and eventually calling Sacramento his home.

To an ignorant person influenced by the prejudicial Asian male stereotypes of TV and movies, an untrained eye might make the joking claim that all Asians look alike, but don’t be fooled. L-F-8 is anything but typical. The guy can salsa dance, hits up country bars, did hip hop shows back when internet radio was still clunky dial up and slow, and was even a member of an African American Fraternity back in the day. Filipino dude can hold his own.

With all these flavors and elements thrown into the mix, the constant love of music has been carried along the way, and its scope stretches across genres like soul, house, jazz, reggae, soca, gospel, salsa, merengue, bachata, electronica, grunge, alternative, Motown, classic rock, samba, bossa nova, swing, and yes people, even country. So, from all that spawns the Mad Flavor Factory.
