Episode 95 of Cut Me Some Slack featured music from Traveling Wilburys, Blind Faith (well Clapton & Winwood performing a Blind Faith tune), Velvet Revolver, and Them Crooked Vultures closing the show. We ran with the theme of 'supergroups'.
First up, we look at how The Wilbury's got together and why 'Handle With Care' may well have been the best 'B-Side' ever. We also pay homage to the 6th Wilbury and recording the album in Dave Stewart's kitchen.
The second part of the show opens with a great Blind Faith song 'Can't Find My Way Home'. We play a more recent live version, but it still sounds pretty good. There's mention of how the band got together, the perils of playing a 6 song album live, and why Ginger Baker adds a different dynamic to the band.
The Frankenstein band or when Guns 'N' Roses met Stone Temple Pilots aka Velvet Revolver were up next. There's the madness of Scott Weiland, the lost 'Cory Taylor' sessions, and we take a step back and admire the genial guitar work of Slash.
Closing the show is a great track from the most excellent Grohl, Jones, and Homme's side project -Them Crooked Vultures.
Enjoy the show.
