Episode 94 of Cut Me Some Slack featured music from Living Colour, Stereo MCs, Reef, Spacehog, and Blind Melon. Thee theme we ran with was 'One Hit Wonders'...or at least the song may be remembered for the most.
Living Colour's first album Vivid really was their big breakthrough. For me, I remember the band most (fondly) for Love Rears Its Ugly Head which was from their second album. So, no shooting the messenger please ;) We close the first half of the show with 'Connected' which reminds me of late nights at The Woo.
The second half of the show opens with a look at what Reef have been up to of late, how new guitarist Jesse Wood might have access to some nice guitars, and some surfing. The last couple of bands I think really were more 'one hit wonders' with Spacehog and Blind Melon. Starting with the former, we note how they moved from Yorkshire to NYC (no, really), and why 'In The Meantime's' hook is a bit indebted to David Bowie.
Blind Melon's super-catchy 'No Rain' (and the bumblebee girl at the audition) close the show.
