This week's Cut Me Some looks at The Blues. We feature music from Walter Trout, Tinsley Ellis, The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Derek Trucks, and King King.
Starting with the latter first. King King are a band I discovered in mid-2015. They hail from the UK (the lead singer/lead guitarist is from Glasgow) and I really enjoyed their particular take on blues, soul, funk, and all that good stuff. Well worth checking out.
Next up were Derek Trucks followed by The Tedeschi Trucks Band. We talk a bit about Derek Trucks' rise from being a child prodigy to becoming one of the best guitarists of his generation and how having 'wee hands' shouldn't hold you back. With the addition of his wife, Susan Tedeschi (and about 10 other musicians) you have the Tedeschi Trucks band. We played a great live version of their cover of "Everybody's Talking'. Super stuff.
To round off the show we had a track each from Tinsley Ellis and the ever-excellent Walter Trout. WT has an excellent new album out 'Battle Scars' (for reasons to complicated and bothersome to go into, we couldn't play a track from it) so we played a classic of his from the archives instead. A nice way to end things all the same.
Enjoy the show.
