My lucky day again as my upload day is coinciding with Kishore Kumar's Birthday, the 4th of August. During the last several days I got an opportunity to listen to a couple of covers and received quite a good track to sing on. A lovely song that I should have covered long ago, though I have sung it innumerable times along with my keyboard.
Kishore Kumar is the one singer whom I have sung the most...about 80 songs. Obviously he was my favorite singer. Kishore Kumar's life and work is spread across internet and people can read about him if they are interested or if they come across something related to him. I did too and during the last two decades I acquainted myself by reading whatever I found on him through his songs, movies, articles and interviews. I will share how I started admiring this singer. I was attracted to his charismatic voice, confident singing, lively presence, but above all, the grace and assurance he represented himself, not just the actor for whom he sang. His birthday got introduced to me only through such forums. I remember him mostly because of his death that occurred on a 13th October and found out about his demise reading a news paper in Karachi back in 1987. I was too busy with my job and family then, but I did realized his death will be a big setback not only for films but his listeners all over the world. That was the time I knew him but never felt close to him. As time progressed I got to know him better, and the more I sang and recorded his songs the more I felt closer to him...so much so that sometimes I feel was he a relative to me?..LoL. Him and some other top artists have been regular visitors in my dreams.
I sang and recorded this song yesterday and enjoyed and felt so good to sing on this karaoke. I hope friends will enjoy this golden oldie in my voice too.
