This has been a dear song to me and my wife since we both heard it from Nitin Mukesh in a YT clip singing this song remembering his father Mukesh. The very first line Duniya Se Jaane Waale Jaane Chale Jaate Hain Kahan (Where do people go when they leave this world?) has always put me in into rethinking where do actually people go. What a philosophical question no body has the answer to. But we assume and satisfy ourselves they are in peace and pain free and together with our dear ones who have already left us.
I sang and shared this cover back in 2010 when several of us friends were commemorating Mukesh Ji's death anniversary. I sang it remembering mine and my wife's parents but this time I am sharing it remembering my youngest sister Deeba who passed away last week in Washington DC after a complication with her heart surgery. May God Bless her soul.
The picture you see at right is me and her during 1960 from the collection of family pictures she had in her album. It was easier for her to take a picture of the picture using a camera instead of scanning so the border you see is her kitchen counter-top. I have plenty of good memories of her but the hole left behind in my heart will never get filled.
