Gumbo YaYa Radio Show interviews Rod Black
No stranger to Southern Rock & Country. Rod Black of Jet Black Stare grew up listening to all the greats. From the original country outlaws Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash, to the Southern Rock pioneers Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rod found himself tracking down every album he could get his hands on.
When the opportunity came for Jet Black Stare to sign with Island/Def Jam in 2007, RB teamed up with Vancouver producer Gordini & songwriter/producer Jeff Johnson, they locked themselves in the studio and dove into the bliss project. The result was an album that one reviewer referred to as an “infectious medley of soul, passion, and most of all, honesty.”
Rod is currently working alongside top producers, songwriters, mixing engineers and many of the top profiles in the music industry today.
Practically born on stage. Rod has toured with such bands as Shinedown, Hinder, Staind, Three Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd, Theory of a deadman, Seether, Saliva, Saving Abel and countless other National Acts. At the end of the day, for Black, it’s about making people feel connected and staying true to the song. As he breaks free with a newfound solo career, Rod Black looks to challenge himself as a songwriter while delving even deeper into his southern rock & country roots.
